Summary

WHOOP!

Racing style launching pad for Tiny Whoop, Blade Inductrix or similar brushed quadcopters. Launching your quad in a canted forward position allows starting at a higher speed, eliminating the need of climbing before gaining forward speed.

Update:

  • 31 Oct 2017
    • Modified ball/socket geometry for a stiffer joint.
    • Tweaked motor dimple positions to for better fitting.

Features:

  • Ball joint design allows pivoting up to approx. 20 degrees in any direction.
  • Thin arms prevents unintentional lifting your quad by ground effect, especially from idle speed / air mode.
  • Dimple shaped recesses provide just enough retention without "sinking" too deep into the launching pad.

Notes:

  • Launching in extreme angle can be problematic if your quad is in Angle / Horizon / auto-leveling modes, launching in Acro / Rate Mode is recommended, or just do the whole race in Acro, it's challenging and FUN!
  • Test ability to arm before flight! Default small_angle value in BetaFlight allows arming if your quad is canted up to 30 degrees, decrease cant angle or increase small_angle value if you have trouble with arming your quad.
  • Print upper part upside down for easier print.
  • Recommended print settings: 20% infill, 5/5/3 top/bottom/perimeters for 0.4mm nozzle at 0.2mm layer height.
  • Feel free to report in comment section if you encounter any issues with the design.
