This is a ball and socket joint for mounting models on posts as used in Star Wars X-wing, Star Trek Attack Wing, and perhaps other games. The joint allows models to rotate freely and tilt up to about 35 degrees.
There are two parts and two versions (4 total), a positive and negative, a ball and a socket.
The negative version is intended to be inserted into a custom model, by drilling and gluing or printing in place as part of the model. It looks the cleanest, but is more work. I use a 1/4" or a 6 mm drill bit.
The positive version is intended for use in retail style models that already have a slot ready to accept a post. It doesn't require a custom model, but it is more visible.
These parts are very small, so layers of .1mm and .4 mm nozzles or smaller are recommended.
