Summary

I tried to print the ThumbwheelM3 from Jamesam97 but couldn't fit any M3 nuts in them, so I adapted his design and changed it a little bit, because i didnt like the number scale and the grip (the grip looks great, but didn't give me a good feeling).

For the grip I used a parametric Gearwheel (module =1 teeth = 22) file i made. I added a pocket for the nut and curved arrows to show the direction in order to either lower (-) or raise (+) the printing table.

After printing I needed to clean and chamfer the pocket a Little bit. Then I put the Thumbwheel on a table, put a nut in the pocket and pressed it by using the flat side of a hammer. Any other flat and solid item should serve well in order to press the nut in.

ATTENTION: also put something solid on the table, otherwise you could leave marks!

The grip on these wheels is fantastic, but I will Need to add a Little rubber ring underneath the head of the screw to increase the friction. Right now the spring is not putting enough force on them to hold them in place.

I also tried to print one out with the nut-pocket on the upside and use Support structure, but it only messed up the bottom side. So i recommend to put the nut-pocket on the bottom side, to generate a G-Code.

(the thumbwheel mounted is printed with reduced speed, the other one is printed with standard settings. Software for generating G-Code is Cura)
