This is a spool for a sewing set for the Chinese People's Liberation Army, which was also featured in Youth (2017 film), a film about the Sino-Vietnamese War. You can find this sewing kit for sale on Aliexpress for a few dollars by searching for "army sewing set" or similar.
It has a retro and desirable appearance, but the quality of the yarn is not very good for practical use. So I made this spool for practical use by rewinding hand-sewn thread. I could have removed the thread from the original spool and used it, but I wanted to keep it for my military collection, so I made a new spool.
The original spool was divided into two parts, but for ease of use, it was made into a single unit.
