This is a protective case to store a 1in hex thread die. The goal was to make this case as small as possible.
The idea behind this design is the thread die wont get knocks and dings as it lives in my tool bag.
I did used valve lapping compound to clean up the threads, remove any stringing or blobs, and give it a smooth feel. I applied a small amount and slowly worked the lid off and on until it is seated properly and had a smooth feel. I then washed the parts off with soap and water. Note, this will probably impregnate the plastic with some of the abrasive and will prematurely wear the threads. However, this is not something I am using multiple times a day.
