This is Fine Dog Remix with lights - Overkill Edition
This remix aims to replace the AA batteries with 18650 rechargeable lithium batteries, and to replace single LED bulbs with chunks of LED strip.
Required hardware
Changes from original model
- Changed LED wiring path to make more space for batteries and other new components
- Bigger battery hole
- Bigger LED holes underneath the base
- Added holes to fit the BMS and the step down module
- Designed a button holder with its cap
- Added a battery holder, remixed from here
- Added feets for the base as the batteries can exceed the base's thickness
Printing
Button variant
- base_remix.stl
- button.stl
- flexbatter18650x2_remix.stl
- (optional) 4x feet.stl
- Flames, dog, chair, table, etc (from original model)
Switch variant
- base_remix_switch.stl
- flexbatter18650x2_remix.stl
- (optional) 4x feet.stl
- Flames, dog, chair, table, etc (from original model)
Assembling
- Print every parts
- Paint printed parts if needed, I hand-painted with acrylic paint
- Wire BMS, batteries, battery holder, button and step down module together
- Tune the step down module to output 5V
- Wire the LEDs to the step down module
- Put the button cap in its hole from underneath and put the button itself on top of its cap
- Make sure that the wiring is correct and that it will fit inside of the base
- Glue/tape down every component
- Glue/tape down every printed parts on the top of the base
- (optional) Glue/tape down the feets under the base
To go further
- While building this thing, I was also thinking about adding a microcontroller such as an ESP32 to add some flashing effect or to achieve more complex effects with RGB LEDs
- Instead of using feets for the base, I could have increased the base's thickness
