Update 2016 May:
The Ricoh Theta camera captures of full spherical panoramic image with no blind spot. Unfortunately the button to trigger the camera is very close to the lens resulting in the hand and an extra large thumb taking up most of the nadir.
Thanks to futaba's design of his String remote release got me thinking on how to make a smaller trigger. This is what I came up with.
Using the Thumb to trigger.

Those dark blobs are chips on one of my lenses. New Theta S is preordered.
The silver tape is used to help hide the camera more in the nadir. The camera actually captures itself. Instead of capturing the white of the camera, the silver tape reflects the colors of the environment.
