The file 'The Wild Robot- By CandidQuality 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 1.3MB.
To be clear this model is still under construction.
I see downloads, but it is really not ready yet. Just don't want anyone disappointed thing this is a complete model yet. It will be completed, just not today.
10-27-2024 update. Had a few friends projects I needed to work on for a while as I was pondering the best way to handle the arm and leg joints. Finally figured it out today, and uploaded a new photo of Roz. She is starting to shine up nicely. Only Hands and below the knee modeling next.
I dropped a simple model out there the first time, just to see what interest there was before the movie was even released. just based off a single photo I could find. it was lacking.... a lot.
Decided it was worth putting in the effort to really get the organic modeling down. I'm a functional part kind of guy. I had also never made anything articulated.....so. why not add that into the mix of new things to learn as well.
This will be a work in progress as I get to the fine details of each of the areas of interest, and is my own design in as much as I'm making it useable off-screen, 3d printable, etc.
Figured I would start with the head. Wanted to get in some really fine details like the lens area. So this will even be suitable for a resin print, but FDM will work as well Scaling it up even more details should come out of the model, especially with FDM. Depending on your tip size and if you decide to use the adaptive layers to help smooth all the rounded surfaces. The head joint is modeled in such a way that the center of mass rides in the center of the joint. Which makes this part poseable. It will stay where you put it.
I'll have to think more carefully how I create the rest of the needed joints, and how crazy I decide to go with those.
Oct12 update: added in a few photos of the torso in pink as i develop the moveable version. Plan on releasing a fused(solid) version, and moveable as well. Just have to invent some new joints to make it work. Will post the torso file once i feel it is useable.
Oct 15 - added a few quick renders on the torso - will try to get back into the more tomorrow, but slumber calls.
Printing it now on my FLSUN S1 with Anycubic PETg. Have to say I really do love it. won a roll to test from a contest, and have now bought several rolls as I was really impressed with the quality
