So here's version 2 of the phone grip. More streamlined, less parts and using only 2 compression springs that will live inside the extended part. Just pop the springs in and use 2 bolts to keep them inside.

The homedepot link is one spring that I tested. It fits but it has alot of tension. The amazon set has a compression spring which has less tension but works much better. So the strength will vary based on how strong the spring is and how long the bolts you use.

Side note, When i put this together I noticed if I put a bolt through the center that is ment to attach to a tripod or other qInch parts, I can basically use the bolt as a kickstand, so this grip can double as a phone stand. So that's kinda neat way to use this new part.

Hardware Used

  1. Any length 1/4-20 bolts you need to match the height of the device you want to clamp onto. (I use 3 inch bolts for phones)
  2. Four Nuts.
  3. Two 3/8in x 1 1/8in x .041 in Compression Spring. You may try other springs that you can stuff inside the space.
