Summary

Goals of the Project

  1. Create an articulating arm that can be used to hold phones, cameras or whatever you can imagine.
  2. Try to gear everything around 1/4-20 Nut and Bolts. They're very cheap, easy to get and come in various sizes. Any other hardware should be available at homedepot.
  3. Creating interconnecting parts/joints that only needed to be printed once and using the various bolt lengths as a way to resize or adjust the size of the part.
  4. Open source the whole project. With the source models as examples, people can easily create new parts or improve existing ones.

Spring Clamp : I need a really good large torsion spring. Haven't found one to suit the design I had in mind. Any helping finding one would be greatly appreciated.

About the Project
I always loved camera arms and find them useful to do various things. But they tend to be pretty pricey that I just wait on ebay to find cheap parts from china. When I got my first 3D Printer recently I hoped that there was something I could 3D print but found nothing but some random parts from various people that I can probably make an arm with. I wanted a one stop specially design system that allows me to create whatever size arm I needed at any specific moment but using very very cheap parts I can easily get at homedepot. So the birth of qInch... which is really play on Quarter Inch Nuts and Bolts that are the core of the system.

So here it is. I will introduce new parts as time goes on, I'm also open to new ideas, like if you have a really cool part Idea I'll gladly help you model it and included it into the project.
