Summary

Do you love bendansie's masterpiece The Joyful Yell as much as I do? Do you hate removing support and the scars it leaves on great models as much as I do? If so, this may be the solution.

I carefully cut the original model (medium merged) into three pieces using Netfabb. The cuts are done such that 1) no support is needed 2) most critical part is printed at best quality 3) the seams are inconspicuous. I then did a 200% scaled up print at 0.08mm and in Hatchbox 720C PLA. Glueing is simple, although I recommend E6000 (a type of shoe glue) for the face-torso job, because superglue dries too quickly for you to make fine alignment adjustments.

Due to the model's complexity, I couldn't find a perfect cut. As a result, the collar area suffered from some overhang issues. In return, I get perfect face, hair, clothes texture, and very inconspicuous seams. I suspect if you have better cooling and printed at a smaller scale the result may be much better. Also I suspect the scars after removing support would have been much worse and prominent, although I didn't do a test and comparison. At the very least, you can still print my cut pieces with (minimal) support and it would be much less intrusive than printing the full model with support.

Thank you bendansie again for sharing this great piece of art!
