Summary

Update: 2020/07/03 VERSION 5 posted.
I posted version 5 of the rover and started my YouTube series http://readthefactorymanual.com/ come check it out for details on how to assemble your own rover.

Update: 2019/06/23 VERSION 5 design.
I have been busy working and working on the rover design. I think I have a design that will survive the desert. You can find a video to it here: https://youtu.be/9SWO8IDX3os As soon as I get it working I will update this thing with the Version 5 Stuff.

Update: 2018/09/02
Updated the corner spindles to include a bearing and a modular design that makes them stronger.

I will be posting Version 3.0 as soon as I get it done. I think this will be the one that goes out to the desert.

Update: 2018/08/31 I started the design and print of The Great Mojave Rover 3.0. I am printing with PETG and I must say I love the way PETG prints. I will post an update to this model once I have a rolling version again.

Update: 2018/08/05 If you plan on running this thing in the summer don't print it in PLA. It made 2.5 hours in my last melt test. When it is nice out it works well. :)

The Great Mojave Rover Project is an autonomous rover built to survive the extreme conditions of the Mojave Desert. Inspired by JPL great little Mars rovers, I am taking my experiment to the extreme of leaving them in the desert for weeks and maybe months at a time. I will relay instructions from my own mission control and transmit the data via LTE mobile network.

You can see the video here of it working: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/1WbNJOvi_eU

This is the first rolling version of the Rover. A new version of this rover is on the drawing board waiting to be built and tested, I wanted to publish this version to see what the reaction was. This Rover is designed to print on a fairly small printer 150x100x100 print area. You can rotate the part for best fit on you printer. Most if not all the parts can be printed without supports.
