The filament dust filter clip has proven to be a very useful accessory. I've printed one clip for each spool I own using the spool's filament. So, now I have many of them printed successfully with several materials (PLA, ABS, PETG, wood).
I recently bought a couple of new filament spools and I decided that it is the time to add some improvements to the original design. The new design is more compact and requires less post-printing processing.
First of all, the clip and the filter shell are now a single part. Initially, I designed them as two separate parts that should be clipped together. I had in mind to design and print different clips to match the different spool shapes. But the initial design was proven to fit to every spool I own (Prusa, Filamentum, Prima Select, ...).
Second, the size of the filter shell is now smaller. I found that even a small piece of sponge is more than enough to clean and hold the dust collected after months of usage.
Third, the filter shell and the cap edges are now chamfered, so the cap can be placed easier to the filter shell.
Finally, I added a small notch, so it is now easier to open the filter sponge chamber.
