Summary

The Angry Hornet

This is another collaborative build between RonStG and myself, taking inspiration from some of the most popular foamie wings on the market we came up with this fully printed design. The Angry Hornet is a 600mm wingspan flying wing with differential thrust and Elevon operation. The majority of the body has been designed for easy assembly without glue, including dove tail slide on wings and connection blocks between the fuse sections that are secured via 2mm screws, this insures that parts are easily replaced if anything gets broken and it's something we really wanted to focus on for "no stress" flying.
The entire body of the plane features a custom made infill structure that is inlaid into the parts using .3mf files. These .3mf files are made specifically for version 4.13 of Cura and are not compatible with 5.xx+ versions of Cura because of the way these versions interpret parts upon loading. These are prepared for you in the full release package along with detailed print instructions for each individual piece on the plane, they include setting tweaks and support blockers ect. as well as integrating the custom infill structures properly. It is highly recommended that you use these instead of the included .stl files... Follow the instructions and it will be hard to mess anything up. The wings are designed to take 2 different types of servos, either 9g servos or 2.9 gram linear servos from spektrum.

The 5 main body pieces weigh in around (264 grams of plastic) using polymaker pre-foamed LW-PLA...
I used regular PLA for most of the other small pieces.

Final weight (with all electronics and battery installed) should be between 700gram-800gram

Recommended equipment: motors 1806 2300kv, battery 1500mah3s-2200mah3s, 2x 9g servo or 2x 2.9g spektrum linear servo. 2x 30 amp small drone esc, 1x small 5v bec unit, radio capable of elevon mixing and differential thrust mixing. 2mm screw assortment, 3mm screw assortment (these can be found cheap on amazon), small rubber bands for landing gear shock assembly, 5mmx3mm craft magnets for covers and battery holder, we used the 8 blade 4 inch props from HQProp. they offer way more thrust then we needed, could have probably used a 5inch with lower blade count but these just looked way better. :P

Note: This Thingiverse page is for test parts only and includes the left wing for test printing and a small section of the middle fuse for test fitting the dove tail slides. This wing requires the most build space of all the parts, so if you can print this you can print the entire plane.

The set price for the full model will be 15$, but for the first month we will have it at 33% off for anyone wanting to try it early.
