This is a totally functional, and almost-totally-printed click pen that I designed for an engineering interview. It's almost-totally-printed because you need to find a spring and ink cartridge elsewhere.
As you can imagine the tolerances on the parts need to be exact for the pen to function. Sharpen the edges of the teeth of the gear and plunger so that they are as fine as possible. Also lightly sand the different surfaces of the gear until it slides smoothly into the screwtop and plunger.
I've made four of these so far and they work great. I think assembly of the parts is pretty straight forward but in case not, note that the cylindrical extension on the gear is inserted into the hole in the plunger, and that assembly slides into the screwtop. The end of the ink cartridge should rest against the bottom of the gear.
