Summary

Been puling together all my previous sabres and tweaking them so that parts are interchangeable and hopefully easy to fit together.

These designs are based on the use of a standard 28mm OD (26mm ID) metal curtain pole cut to length around 230mm. This will provide a solid core for the 3d printed parts.

So far I have around 8 different styles:

No.1 - Padawan
No.2 - Fell
No.3 - Shoto
No.4 - O'Katana
No.5 - Bane
No.6 - Flamberge
No.7 - Rebel
No.8 - Bridger
All these parts should be interchangeable with the emitters, pommels and shrouds all having the same dimensionality to allow a push fit, glue fit or screw fit (depending on your preference).

The hand grips, for all but the Bane (No.5), are either No.1 Wrapped Grip or No.1 Smooth Grip. This will provide either a pre wrapped finish of something smooth that will allow for a custom leather skin or para-cord wrap.

Also attached is a simple 18650 battery housing with a magnetised connection to the electronics housing (not sure if the magnets are a great idea but giving it a try). The electronics housing is recessed for both a Verso board and a Proffie board as these are the two I've used in the past.

The blade plug is based on the Shtok Custom Worx pcb connectors from The Saber Armory (KR Sabers).

Switches are either 16mm vandal-proof momentary or 12mm led lock-on. (I havent worked out a way to do interchangeable switches yet, but I will in the next iteration in maybe 5 years time or so...)

As always this is a WIP, and I haven't printed out all the parts as yet.

I will try and Add updates to this Thing as and when I can, and/or if there is anything that needs overhauling or amending please let me know.


Update 03/04/2024: Updated the No.6 Emitter to incorporate some channels for wiring the Vent blades, whilst retaining the main blade slot. Also tweaked the tolerance on this element as it appeared a little loose in someones build.

As a bonus also uploaded the No.8 Bridger saber-blaster. This will require some M4/M5 hardware to connect the blaster bits and a 2 or 2.5mm ball bearing for the selector switch.


Update 30/10/24: Latest addition the No.X Dual Jointer. This is a little beauty ring with sound holes to allow you to create a dual end sabre. The shape is to allow 2 "male" connectors to slot together thus allowing you to add a second fore grip and/or emitter to the pommel end.

Warning!!! This is not a structural piece and unless you extend the metal pipe to accommodate the length of the extra parts, you will have a failure point. Especially if you use a second blade. If you want a more stable cosplay with blade then extend the metal pipe core the full length of the second foregrip and/or emitter.

It may also be advantageous to add a few holes (it doesn't have to be all the holes as this will again weaken the sabre) in the metal pipe to better emit the sound.
