The file 'Tessellating Pentagon Lampshade 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 61.3KB.
This is a 5 sided laser cut lampshade, made from cardboard, tracing paper and a small piece of plywood
The design is based on using a special type of pentagon that can tessellate.
I cut this on a k40 laser, the design is such that it just fits on an A4 piece of cardboard, and also just within the max cutting envelope of the k40.
I had the laser at about 12% power for the cardboard cutting. I also cut all the tracing inserts as a stack of 5 simultaneously (I guess I could ahve tried that with the cardboard but didn't)
cut 5 panels, and 5 'tracingPaperInserts', spray mount the tracing paper to the inside faces of the card panels.
cut the mount point and assemble.
It's a little bit fiddly to get all the panels in place, and glued to the mount, but once done seems fairly sturdy.
