Summary

I created this model using HueForge (https://shop.thehueforge.com) which is a "filament painting" application that generates 3D models from images. Source image is from https://www.specfictionshop.com/products/t-800-endoskeleton-1-3-scale-statue-by-prime-1 and also attached. I sliced the model using Cura 5.7.0 for Mac, and relevant settings were as follows:

  • Infill 100%
  • Layer height 0.08 mm
  • Base layer 0.16mm
  • Layer 1: started with black filament
  • Layer 5: changed to gray filament
  • Layer 11: changed to metallic silver filament
  • Layer 17: changed to white filament
  • Layer 24: changed to red filament

I personally did not see much of a difference between the gray and metallic silver filaments, so if you wanted to reduce the number of filament changes, you could probably get away with skipping the filament change at layer 11.

The HueForge-generated model would have resulted in 23 layers, but I edited the model in Tinkercad to raise the eyes so that I could print layers 24-29 with red filament. Your results may vary based on the specific kind of filaments that you use and the transmission distance properties (read more about it on the HueForge website if interested) of each filament.

If you resize the model, and you want to try to get the same look using the same filaments that I've described above, make sure to resize only the X and Y dimensions and leave the Z height as is. Of course, there is no single “correct” way to print this model. Have fun experimenting with different filament colors and layer changes.
