I snapped an ~8.7mm tent pole, and the design of the pole assembly makes it impossible to replace a single pole without buying a whole new pole assembly. So, 3d printing to the rescue. Print in 2 pieces, and they form a splint around the broken section. There's also a slight bulge on the interior to accommodate the broken section because my pole splayed out where it broke.
I printed it with 4 perimeters and solid infil for strength. I added 4 tiny hose clamps after to hold each part around the broken portion of the pole.
The tent in question is working perfectly with the repair. The new joint seems plenty strong.
