Summary

Inspired of a video on Youtube I have created this "Tensegrity Table". Tension forces are used to keep the table upright and balanced instead of compression forces used on standard table legs.

In the end, an object comes out that seems to circumvent the laws of physics through this optical illusion. It looks amazing!

Assembly

The assemblage is quite simple, but the installation of the four strings(esspecially the 3 balance strings at the corners of the table) is kind of pain when you have less than three hands.

Thats what you need:

  • The 4 printed parts (Base, Top and the 2 middle parts)
  • Some glue (just to make it more stable)
  • And strings ( in my case i have used fishing lines)

Just put the two middle parts in the holes in the base and top and secure them with some glue.
Now the difficult part begins, in which the strings are put together.

In my case, I started with the rope in the middle and gradually aligned the corner ropes to keep the top balanced.
I made a simple double knot to connect and tighten the ropes (maybe you have a better idea).

When you now have attached all the ropes and the top is aligned, the Tensegrity Table is ready to use, NICE!

It would be nice if you post your print of it!
