Summary

Windshield Height Adjuster

Yamaha Tenere 700

Once installed, the windshield can be adjusted quickly and without the need for tools. It offers a total range of 138mm, allowing you to lower the windshield by 38mm or raise it by 100mm. Lowering the windshield works even with a headlight protector in place.

I maximized the design to fit my small 180x180 printer bed. The parts were printed using ASA filament, which is UV and heat resistant up to 90°C (200°F). However because of the ASA filament, I needed to print with supports.
The 5mm spacer shall be printed from a soft, flexible material like TPU.

Please note: Does not fit the World Raid model, as far as I know.

Additionally required parts:

  • 4x M5 threaded inserts (I used 8mm length inserts)
  • 4x M5x18mm screws (DIN 933 / ISO 4017), if M5x18 screws are unavailable, M5x20 can be used with an additional washer.
  • 4x M5x16mm screws (ISO 7380-1), please note, the original windshield screws cannot be reused as the screw heads are too large. You'll need M5 screws with smaller heads to mount the slider.

Instructions:

Preparations:

  1. Print four of the 5mm spacers (TPU_spacer.stl) from TPU filament or replace it with some sort of a thick rubber gasket. This part protects your windshield from cracking.

  2. Print all remaining parts, preferred from ASA filament.
Print each slider for the left and right side.
Print all remaining parts four times.

  3. Drill out the 5mm holes from both sliders.

  4. Use a soldering iron to mount the threaded inserts to the thumb nuts.

Installation:

  1. Remove the windshield from your Tenere 700. Put the original screws aside.

  2. Insert the M5x18mm screws into the slider, one screw for each slot.

  3. Install both sliders with M5x16mm screws to your bike.

  4. Now add the large washer to each screw.

  5. Followed by the TPU spacer, add one to each screw.

  6. Mount the original windscreen.

  7. Add the small washer to each screw.

  8. Finally, install one thumb nut to each screw and tighten your windscreen.

  9. Ride your bike and have fun!
