Summary

I wanted an easy way to remove the telescope cap with the dew shield extended, so I designed these knobs for the ED127 and RedCat 51. The knobs have diameters of 73mm and 58mm, suitable for similar-sized scopes. To avoid scratching the lens, they are designed to be epoxied on rather than screwed.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Print the knob with supports; the supports should be easy to remove.
  2. Insert a screw into the bottom center hole—any screw that fits well and doesn't extend past the knob will work. This screw provides extra support to keep the knob from detaching if the cap fits too snugly.
  3. Apply 5-minute epoxy to the bottom of the knob, focusing on the cutouts where the supports were and around the screw hole.
  4. Center the knob on the outside of the scope cap and let it dry completely.

This setup ensures a secure fit without risking any damage to the lens.
