You have to salvage the battery contacts from the stock AA holder but no soldering is required. I did however have to solder a bump on the + end of each contact because I have flat top batteries.
I've printed and installed this three time already, on my own QX7 and two others for my friends. Installation is not hard but requires patience.
Some people have asked about the voltage, the QX7 and QX7S is rated for up to 3S so three 18650 in series is perfectly fine. You do also get longer run time than using 2S.
The new QX7 ACCESS and QX7S ACCESS is only rated for 2S, do not use 3S.
