Summary

Update (9/24/2018): Adjusted design to have a 0.9mm gap (use V6 files). Fits a Stanley tape measure end very well (the tape end is ~0.95mm)

Update (2/14/2016): After adjustments to my printer I realized that the gap was much too big for a tape measure end (with a properly functioning printer, my extruder was not properly calibrated...). I uploaded new model files for a 1.15mm gap, which should work well for most tape measures.

I designed this thing to be attached to the end of a tape measure to assist in measuring shingled roofs. I work for a solar company and therefore spend a lot of time measuring roofs, and this little bugger works like a dream to keep the tape measure end from snagging on the shingles while running it up to the ridge. I imagine it will come in handy for measuring all kinds of rough surfaces where a typical tape measure end will snag on stuff. It is essentially friction fit onto the end of the tape measure. It took a few revisions to get the slot the correct size, but seems to be just right now (your results could vary depending on your printer). If you find it does not fit you tape properly, just scale it slightly on the X-axis. I provided both the STL and SketchUp file. Feel free to modify, please send me a link if you do!
