Inspired by other users, I decided to make my own clock. I started with the "heart" of the clock- the escapement.
A goal was to make the escapement as efficient as possible. With one tick every second, it needs ~10.5 kg lovered by 1 meter worth of energy to run 24h, which from what I have seen is quite competitive amongst 3d printed clocks, that don't use a pendulum.
However, even tho it runs nicely, it is too loud to be used as a wall clock in a room, that I was planning to sleep in. To fix this- the efficiency must be increased above what I believe is possible with 3d printing, which is why I am halting this project for now...
you will need:
-print all the files
-2x 2x25mm metal rods (I used nails)
-1x 2x11mm metal rod
-2 small plastic screws for the frames
Tolerances!- my printer is tuned, so the printed parts come out the exact size, so adjust your slicer settings accordingly!
