Replacement x carriage for Sunhokey Prusa I3.
The goal of this design is to create a more rigid platform for the hotend to be mounted on.
To achieve this I decided to use ball bearings instead of linear ones and use screws to tweak the amount of pressure on the track in order to get as much of the play out as possible.
I think it came out well.
There are some touch ups to do here and there but nothing major.
[Update 2016-05-06] Added mount point for M4 Allen screw on both sides to be used as end stop trigger.
During working on this design I found the "E3D v6 Bowden X-carriage mount Prusa i3" by Tech2C ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:547706 ). Since this really nice hotend mount did all I wanted, I modified it to fit my X carriage instead of designing my own from scratch.
Many thanks to Tech2C.
I got inspiration for using ball bearings from "Bearing block for 8 mm shaft, 3 x 623zz bearings at 120 degrees" by good_idea ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1424346 ). Although in the end I did it in a different way, I'd still like to mention the influence. Also I used good_ideas design on my printer while printing these parts, as the original linear bearings were just not up to par.
What you'll need:
8 Ball bearings 624zz
4 Ball bearings 623zz (I did not fit them though, but you can)
8 Allen screws m4 16mm
6 Allen screws m4 20mm
6 m4 nuts
4 Allen screws m3 16mm
4 m3 nuts
