The file 'Sunglasses 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 1.3MB.
Link to my other sunglasses design: Half Rim Sunglasses
Features:
• Designed to use Oakley Gascan lenses
• Printed to lens & face curvature, no need for inexact heated frame bending
• Print in place hinges make for simple one piece print with no frame assembly required
• STL file available with and without built-in supports
• Simply twist hinges to free them up after printing
• Built-in supports leave a one layer gap (with 0.1mm layers) for easy removal
• Oakley Gascan lenses pop in easily
Print Settings:
• Orientation: Print upside down with the top touching the build plate
• Print with 100% infill (about 29g of filament total)
• 0.1mm layer height if using file with built-in supports
STL File Versions of Sunglasses Frame:
1) No supports
2) Built-in brow & bottom-frame supports (easily removed if using 0.1mm layer height)
Lenses:
Oakley Gascan replacement lenses are available on the internet for around $10 or even less
Other Information:
• Hinges are reasonably robust but will not stand up to abuse
• I have printed all my test frames in PLA, but a more temperature resistant material is probably a good idea if you are going to leave them in a hot car
Watch the short video on freeing hinges, support removal and lens installation.
If you print these sunglasses please consider posting a make! Enjoy!!
