This hand tool aids the installation of valve stem seals onto the heads of a Subaru EJ25 SOHC engine. The tool is designed to install the stock valve stem seals onto both the Intake and Exhaust valve stems.
The Subaru valve seals (as measured) are 13mm in diameter and 8.10mm tall. The circular spring retainer is inset 2mm from the top of the seal and from the sides by 1.5mm. This tool is designed to match these dimensions with 0.3mm extra clearance to allow for filament shrinkage.
The tool has a recess that allows the valve stem to enter the tool without ever touching the tool.
P.S. Remember to install the bottom valve spring keeper BEFORE installing the valve seal as the keeper will NOT slip over the seal once installed. DOH. Ask me how I know.
The valve seals can be installed by hand in order to feel the seal enter the retaining grove on the valve guide, and/or the tool can also be struck with a soft hammer to ensure the seal is fully seated.
