I wanted to print Sting from lord of the rings.
I didn't like the models I found and decided that I would design my own one.
This is my Interpretation and I am open to other designs, as Tolkien never described the Dagger/Knife in anything that can be considered detail.
The Dagger is held together with an M5 threaded rod and a nut at the back.
Glue helps firm everything up.
The threaded rod extends to the very tip of the blade for strength, though it is not necessary to do so
Dimensions of Threaded rod:
long: 366mm long. The end that supports the blade tip should be ground to a 20mm long taper.
(check the blade model to better understand this.
Short: 150mm. this will simply serve to hold the Hilt assembly and blade together.
NOTE: It Can be quite difficult to thread the rod all the way in due to friction. I have changed the width of the hole since I printed mine so it should be ok. this is just a warning so you don't break the print.
I will also include a simple Printable Central rod if you don't want to go the the effort (Glue definitely needed
I've extender the edges of the handle spacer to mitigate warping on the support face. You will need to break or cut away the excess.
Don't print the blade with support because you don't want support in the centre hole!
Display stand bolt dimensions: M4x30mm Countersink.
Decorative guard piece Has fine detail and should be printed with 0.1mm layer height
Sheath spacer: One of the spacer .stl files should be printed in flexible filament. this it to grip the blade and secure it in the sheath. otherwise print the other file or design your own.
