The file 'Sticky Gecko / Lizard Refrigerator Magnet 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 13.1MB.
My favorite 3D print, now with magnets!
Your printer will need to support M600 filament change G code or similar for magnet embedding and color change. You could also pause the print manually but that will require much more patience!
This build features six neodymium magnets embedded inside the print to allow the little guy to stick every which way on your fridge. Or lacking a metal surface they stick to each other!
As designed you will need:
QTY 1 8mm by 3mm magnet for the head
QTY 5 6mm by 3mm magnets for the feet and tail
I suggest placing all magnets down in the same polarity. You can also alternate polarity if you are printing multiple lizards so they will hold hands. I use a dab of superglue under the magnets when I place them but this is optional.
I printed with 0.2mm layer height. Assuming your slicing software works about the same you'll need to put pauses around the following layers:
1st pause layer 17 to place magnets and change color
2nd pause layer 44 to change color (optional)
The key changes in the original design other than the voids in the model for the magnets are that I smooshed the lizards head down a bit to allow for a third accent color along the back. I also had to enlarge the feet and tip of the tail to allow for magnet placement.
My kids love these and I hope you do too.
Happy printing!
