UPDATE: Somehow the files I originally uploaded were not aligned correctly for printing. I have corrected the orientation of the files and replaced the original STL files. Hopefullyv these will print better.
I started building this pretty accurate phaser design using Corma's base files. When I started printing, I discovered there were a number of shortcomings in the design. Some parts were not well structured for FDM printing and others were not the correct scale for the finished phaser. I also eliminated some complexity in the design.
You need to print one of each part in the files list EXCEPT the Type 2 main body parts. You can either print the left and right sides separately or there is also a file with them together.
The Type 1 phaser body is held together using 4 - M3x6mm cap screws. I ground the front pair of screws down with a grinder so the head of the cap screw fit flush with the body. I used cap screws because I plan to add a blinking LED and coin style battery in the future.
The Type 2 trigger assembly consists of a ball point pen spring, cut in half, a M3x15mm cap screw, a 3mm length of 4mmODx3mmID PTFE tube and two M3 flat washers. The spring fits in the large hole of the trigger button and is held in by the two washers and cap screw. When assembling, press fit the assembly into one half of the Type 2 Main Body with a washer on the outside and the other on the inside of the body. This will allow for a spring operated switch to be mounted inside the body to activate any electronics you want to add. I glued the body halves together.
