Summary

At some point, I purchased a reasonably standard 360W power supply and while the device worked fine, most of the threaded holes in the aluminum enclosure were stripped, right out of the box. One of them even fell out. Also, the panel-mount voltage selection switch was not panel mounted, it was just sitting there loosely near a cutout in the case, supported by nothing more than its soldered leads. And the enclosure was dented.

So instead of returning the thing, I made it better. I replaced the aluminum enclosure with this printed box, which improves the design in several respects, and also serves as a general purpose replacement part. Features:

  • Identical dimensions to the standard form-factor (drop-in replacement)
  • Designed to use threaded brass heat-set inserts for strength and longevity
  • Provides countersunk holes for mounting the input-voltage switch and heatsinks
  • Recessed rectangular areas for applying custom-printed information labels
  • Exclusively uses metric (M3 and M4) button head socket screws
  • Design has been tested and refined over several printed iterations
