Update 2016-10-28
I finally got in to see a specialist about my finger. He made a few suggestions on how to improve the splint.
The finger tip should be slightly hyperextended. Also, the finger needs to be free at the second knuckle.
Printing horizontally with supports resulted in a lot of cleanup with many rough surfaces. It printed well vertically without supports, except for a few layers at the top of the lower cutout. I added a dummy bottom so that when "Supports touching buildplate" is used, supports are only added for the lower cutout.
Print vertically, 100% infill, Supports (Touching Buildplate)
This was designed for my right pinkie finger. Scale it as needed or modify the 123D Design file.
