The file 'Sprung Landing Gear, Front Wheel Assembly For Skyhunter 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 76.5KB.
Hi,
take a look at my other designs https://www.thingiverse.com/mg_evolution/designs
This is still a work in progress and is not finished.
I have designed this for my Micro Skyhunter.
Fitted to the plane : https://youtu.be/otwbvkb_XnM
Table top test : https://youtu.be/cGbfdJWHNn4
I want to make this take off and land on wheels so it doesn't have to be thrown and it doesn't break the prop as i land.
The spring used in this is 20mm long x 5mm dia. it is relativly soft and will more than likely bottom out on landing but it has not yet been tried.
The front wheel is printed in 2 halfs that are a mirror image. The 2 bolt holes are there to line up the wheels when gluing them together. I used gorilla glue and haven't cleaned it up for the pictures.
As i have it pictured with the long bolts it's weight is 8g. with the suspension fully compressed on a set of scales I am reading 550g. This can be changed by using a stiffer spring or by extending the pivot point further out away from the wheel.
The landing gear is secured through to the inside with a 10mm long self taper suitable for the 3mm hole. The inside support has a 8mm wide square to sit in the cut out of the balsa wood insert in the plane.
I printed the wheels with 2 walls and 8% zigzag infill in cura.
The frame was printed with 2 wall with alternative wall set on and 15% zigzag infill in cura
All pivot holes are suitable for M3 bolts. Nylocs should be used to stop vibration loosening fixings.
