I printed out this 3D Print Spool Holder http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2112075/#files and really liked the design. It was simple to use and effective. Then I had the thought "why bother with a steel axle that requires nuts on it to keep everything in place in the mount on the machine?". So I came up with these simple parts that require no support that can press into the ends of the Holder and be a drop in fit to my Spool bracket remix here http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2226146 .
Two pieces are required. When combined with the 3D Print Spool Holder it results in a 108mm on center x 8mm diameter assembly. No tools are required to change out the filament.
This set up is used on my Anet A8.

I added a modified version of the Spool Axle to allow this the spool to be used with the original filament stand that came with the A8. I am putting it to use with my Tronxy X1.
