I really like the original design, but I don't like working with it directly on the workbench and instead wanted to clamp it into my vise. Clamping it vertically puts the jaws in the way, and since the sides are angled clamping it horizontally was less than stable.
This simple remix adds a square base so you can easily clamp it with a vise from the sides. The base is the same thickness as the grooves in my panavise jaws, which makes it easy to clamp and very secure.
