Summary

A simple printable sundial. The Gnomon simply slips into the slot in the middle of the Dial, place the Dial so that the upper tip of the Gnomon points at the north star (generally points North) and the shadow of the Gnomon will cast on the appropriate time indicated on the dial face.

A great little educational tool to illustrate solar principles and much more.

Footnote: Many people seem to think that a sundial should be level with the ground, probably because we usually see them like this in lawn ornaments and other garden decorations. A sundial should sit (on it's pedestal) at a slight angle which results from the pointing of the gnomon at the north-star. Early Florentine sundials were either custom made for the latitude they would be used at, or, later, would incorporate a swivel between the dial plate and the pedestal for proper attitude adjustment.
