Summary

This is a simple, beginner-friendly adjustable bench power supply project that uses the LTC3780 buck-boost switching regulator controller to control the voltage and current output. The power supply design requires a barrel jack power adaptor input between 4V-36V and outputs (0.8V-29.4V || 0.3A-6A) when using a 12V 5A (60W) power supply input.

From his design, I have changed it to use a barrel jack input instead of having a 12V 5A power supply inside the casing. This is to:

-Reduce the size of the power supply (125x90x80 cm).
-Reduce the project cost (total $40 AUD).
-Allow different power supply inputs.

I have also designed a 3D printable casing.

The 3D-printed casing is held together using 4x M3 nuts and bolts. The nuts may need to be glued to the casing to prevent them from falling out. Some sanding may be required for a better fit.

Most of the components is either a press-fit or comes with bolt threads and is simply screwed on. Only the barrel jack adaptor may need gluing to the back plate. I used some construction adhesive and then sanded it down after it was dried.

Updates:
26/07: There are now two version of the back plate. The Back Plate (Flat version) allows the whole thing to be printed with no supports in exchange for more difficulty when gluing.
