Summary

Hi fellow simracers,

I designed this dashboard that allows you to have data from racing games displayed physically.

The upper LEDs row is for RPM, the 7 digits display for gears, the screen for any information you may want and the left column of LEDs for additional data (for exemple, DRS enabled, or Yellow flag or time win/loss).

Two versions are available:

  • Back face Square is only to pass the USB cable
  • Back face Round is to pass the USB cable and arrange it nicely with the cable cap (like the photo)

Therefore it is either Front face + Back Face square or Front face + Back face round + 2x Cable cap.

The carbon finish is a vinyl (brand 3M). It is very simple to apply with a hairdryer (do not heat too much).

On the back you can add two M6 screw. The screw head is inside and the nut goes against the back of the case eventually with a washer. The distance between the screws is 40mm. I use long screws as a stand but you can also design a intermediate part which will suit your rig.

On the front, 4 holes are designed for M3 conical heads screws (with nuts in the back face). My fit was tight enough and I did not need them, therefore I covered them with vinyl.

The PC software used to collect data is Simhub, which will generate the Arduino code.

You will need :

  • 1x arduino Nano
  • 1x USB Cable
  • 1x 7 digits display (20x28)
  • 1x 74HC595
  • 7x 180ohm resistors (to limit current in the 7 digits display)
  • 1x LCD I2C 20x4
  • 1x 8 LED bar WS2812
  • 1x 5 LED bar WS2812
  • 5x push buttons

It costed me roughly 50€, but it can be halved by ordering in China (I was eager to have my HW during my COVID lockdown :) )
