This has a spot for a 5x2mm magnet to hold the bit in place. I really liked this design but the little tabs and the brim that held the bits in place with friction kept breaking. I’m using PLA, so that may be part of the issue, or my printer is just not tuned very well. (Edit: while tinkering with this and running multiple prints, I got my printer dialed in) Either way, below are the changes I made.

•Combined the tray and handle, so you don’t have to glue it
•Removed the little friction tabs
•Removed the overhang on the middle separator that holds the bits in place with friction
•Added some reinforcement at the base of the bit channel to help prevent bending/breaking
•Shaved some edge material off the end of the tray, I kept having to sand it down
•Added dots so you know which side is up, and to give you some grip
•Aded a “shelf” in the bit channel so the bits won’t immediately fall out if you start to open it upside down

Sizing/Scale

The models are not upsized from the original, but I found that I needed to print the sheath at 102% @.2 layer height and 103% @.28 layer height to fit the non upscaled bit tray. Your results may vary depending on your bits, nozzle size, printer, and filament.

Fitting

The bit port will be tight at first, what I do Is use a pair of pliers to insert and remove the bit a few times. This will loosen it up to the point where you will be able to just use your fingers.

The tray may not glide into the sheath at first. If you use supports (like me) use a wax tool to remove everything you can from inside the sheath, then slide the tray in and out of the sheath until the surfaces smooth, flip the tray over and do the same on the other side.
