Summary

This is a seedlings pot. The coffee filter(biodegradable) will suck up water from the saucer below so you would need fewer watering. The aim of this thing is to have enough water for the plant, but also exposure of oxygen with the root, and trans-plant-ability.

Instructions for seedling:

  1. Print the model
  2. Place coffee filter
  3. Put some soil in
  4. Pour water
  5. Place a seed or a branch you want to nurse

Transplanting:

  1. Keep in room (or stable conditions) for few weeks.
  2. Check to see roots so it will endure the harsh outdoor conditions
  3. Scoop some dirt, place the whole filter for planting outside.
  4. Fill your garden with flowers and crops. Enjoy.

Hint; this is just a nurturing thing. Transplant before it start spreading out!

I added a PET bottle reservoir version. For this version, first screw on the thing just like a cap, hang paper rope into the PET bottle, and place the filter on the top. Short, fat bottles are better. Paper ropes can suck up water to about 10cm height. Note that the PET version has a 3mm pitch screw, and a 30mm outer diameter, and 28mm inner diameter. You can Scale to fit your PET bottle.

I added a PET bottle reservoir + top mouth version, so you coud water it from the top. Refer to the 3rd image left corner. You won't have to unscrew to add water, and you could also dispose old water from this opening.

I live in Japan, so I don't know about PET bottles in EU, America, or other regions. It would be great if you could comment on some of the standard design parameters of PET bottles in different regions, then I will add some models.

Warning!

Do not water the thing from the top. In other words, always add water directly into the reservoir. When you pour water from the top, the granular particle flows down with the water, eventually clogging the filter. This will result weaker water suction force.
