Summary

Converts any ordinary pot into a self-watering one! Now includes an optional watering indicator to let you know when it needs to be refilled!

Remix changes:

  • configurable in the Customizer
  • larger center pole with side perforation
  • 3 => 4 tertiary poles, now with center drainage
  • 4 top drain panels, with fewer, smaller holes for larger coverage
  • pole stilts to allow complete separation from water
  • watering attachment is now optional

DIY Watering indicator

To use the watering indicator, print with the watering attachment hole enabled.

If you want to tailor your own, customize the thing!

Parts

  • 1x boba (bubble) tea plastic straw (~11.6-11.7mm outer diameter)
  • 1x regular plastic straw
  • scissors
  • pliers
  • a lighter
  • a permanent marker

Assembly

  1. Print the water indicator (to prevent the straw from being touched).
  2. Optionally print the end cap, if the bottom of the pot is uneven or the inner straw catches.
  3. Cut boba straw to depth of pot, plus a little more. Add bottom cap.
  4. Cut inner straw to same size (if you can't see the straw, time to water) or a little more (if you want two indicators)
  5. While holding the inner straw end closed with pliers, lightly melt with flame of lighter. Give it a quick pinch with the pliers while still hot for a crimp seal.
  6. Test fit the straws in the pot and mark the maximum height the straw should float.
  7. Assemble the rest together!
