The file 'Seestar S50 – Lens Cap 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 247.3KB.
After exploring numerous lens cap designs, I noticed that many didn't quite fit properly. This led me to take matters into my own hands and design a custom lens cap using Fusion 360 and share it here for others to enjoy.
The lens cap can be used even when the scope is stowed away. Its slim profile ensures it clears the base during closure, though it's essential to double-check for proper seating. I disclaim any responsibility for potential damage especially if it is not fully inserted.
I've experimented with various materials while 3D printing these caps for friends, ranging from standard PLA to PLA-CF. However, my personal favorite is TPU due to its flexibility, making it notably easier to insert and remove.
Feel free to utilize and share this creation, please give a shout out and credit to @PixelatedDad if you incorporate this solution into your own astronomy setup. Happy stargazing! 😊
