This is a Sector Mechanicus style sheath, that fits over two empty FDM spools after they have been glued together. This creates a bigger size platform rather than just the lip of the spool and fits in with my other Sector Mechanicus terrain.
I did initially make this one piece, but then it needed lots of supports. I separated the topper piece from the core of the platform so that it can all be printed flat on the build plate with no supports needed.
The core is 7mm thick but that can obviously be rescaled if the spools you are using are thicker or thinner than the eSun spools I had kicking about. The 7mm core is used where two spools meet, I will scale that down on the z axis for top and bottom of my tower, where there is only the thickness of one spool
