I broke the thin compliant mechanism that held on the original bumpers and decided to make my own beefed up version.
Pop off faceplate, remove two screws at the top, pull the old mechanism out and replace with this one.
It's a 'works well enough' solution - so if you're SOL with your controller and have a 3d printer give it a shot, but its not an upgrade.
You will need a sharp razor knife to clean up the print properly.
