Summary

This is a more durable screw holder for a standard hex drive bit when using a drill or power driver single handed. Print three splines and bundle them into the ring. Slip the ring on and slide a hex bit into the center hole. Print from PLA without supports. The splines are strongest when printed laying flat.
Added version 2 as an all-in-one STL . It is harder to assemble but more effective as it stays together better after driving the screw.

Some report having trouble assembling this print:
-Are you printing without supports?

  • The interior of the ring has 6 sides and obviously it will assemble easier when the faces of splines are aligned with the faces of the rings interior. If you watch the video you can see where I rotate the ring into proper alignment on the 2 splines before I tap the third into place.
  • try scaling the ring up by 2%

I am printing on a Bambu P1S without support using a .4mm nozzle and .2mm layers, 2 walls, 15% infill with generic PLA. It is a tight fit yes but that helps keep it together as it bends and deforms when driving in the screw

Someday soon, I will print a flux capacitor and complete my time machine. Whereupon I will travel to 1889. The location you ask? Portland, Oregon, USA. Once acclimatized to my new time and location I will stealthily enter a certain house in the middle of night. Carefully I will search the house for the infants crib. Upon discovery I will quickly and efficiently strangle the newborn Henry Phillips , showing no mercy. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_F._Phillips)
Until that blessed day arrives, I will be forced to use this thing. Peace, Out.
