The file 'Scheherazade – Middle East Inspired Lamp Shade 3D Printer Model' is (stl) file type, size is 91.1MB.
Since there is not any arabic culture inspired lamp shade avaiable I decided to make one. It's partly printed, partly handmade or bought.
Printed parts include:
Handmade-bought parts include:
Whole thing is then glued together, while printed parts have been slightly coated with gold deco spray paint (just slightly, so it resembles and old piece).
Work instructions - assembly:
1) Print all the parts
X) If the bottom part was printed in three parts, glue it together
2) Cut acrylic in eight 140 mm to 60 mm (approx.) rectangles (check the size against flat side of the ornament face part)
3) For each acrylic plate take one ornament plate, center the acrylic on the flat side of the ornament plate and fix it with tape
4) Using markers suitable for acrylic paint a colors though the holes (you can also leave it uncolored)
X) After coloring separate acrylic from ornament and paint a little more around each color spot to prevent uncolored light to pass though. Also, after you finish with the acrylic painting, spray all of them with transparent laquer to protect them from scratch damage.
5) Spray all printed parts to gold, copper, chrome if you wish (i have used gold)
6) Glue acrylic and ornaments together
7) Glue bottom part, eight acrylic-ornament parts and top part together
8) Install the lightbulb holder in lightbulb part
9) Install it wherever you want, put the lightbulb in and screw it together.
Use low watt light bulbs, or LED. Common 100W light bulb generates a lot of heat and plastic may not withstand it!
Always hire a professional electrician for mounting any electric appliance like this!
