Update: status set to postponed.
Anyway, time will tell.
Have to advance my CAD skills first.
Need to learn how to use more capable programs.
This will make the hull of the Lunochod moon lander rocket thing.
These are the very first images of investigating of how to make the thing.
Sandmann sitting next to the Lunochod standing on the lander base.
See the 6 segments of the openend hull.

DO NOT PRINT IT.
It has no meaning right now.
Updated the pictures, stretched to normalize the hight.
Buckled by Thingiverse preview anyway.
See the original.

Looking close up you might recover some hard to see details.
On the top there is a thing thad could make a coupling adapter or refueling thing.
Do you recognize on the segment on the right side above the window cutout a Gnubble for fueling?
Do not know if they had plans.
By chance the segments have metal screws/rivets on the top. See the big picture.
The adapter could be made from magnetized steel machined on a lathe.
The other possibility:
For the purpose of taking the series of stop motion shots they could had put a hook on top of the adapter. This seems very likely.
A wire could have been slung around the gnubble then.
Did they really made it this way? Even if they made it this way they would had it hidden from plain sight.
Alles klar? Compri? Comprende?
No, THIS was not they way the makers made things working.
The guys were very smart.
Each time I think of the designer I'm happy he was one of my comrades.
But they had a few runs on TV only with a number of space crafts made.
Sandmännchen has a fleet of more than 240 cars, planes, boats, everything that can move bringing the Sandmann to the kids anyhow.
