Summary

3D Printable Airbrush/Object Station (Rotating)

Introduction

I have designed a 3D printable Airbrush/Object Station with a rotating turntable, offering a convenient solution for airbrushing and showcasing products. This station involves three separate 3D printing processes:

  1. Main housing (220mm x 220mm)
  2. Rotating disc (172mm in diameter)
  3. Gears, gear holder, and "engine" stick components

Motivation

The primary motivation behind this design was to facilitate the airbrushing process for 3D printed models while preventing paint from accidentally reaching the work surface. This station enables the rotation of objects without physical contact, thanks to the included rotating disc.

Features

  • Adheres to the maximum build dimensions of 3D printers (220x220mm).
  • Exceptionally sturdy design for stability during use.
  • Versatile platform for showcasing products on various platforms like classified ads or eBay, enhancing product presentations.

Versions

In addition to the standard version, I have created two alternative versions:

  1. Smaller Walls Version (Spraybox_smaller_walls + RotatingDisk_smaller_walls): Features thinner walls to reduce material consumption, making it an economical choice.

  2. Straight Edges Version (straight_edges): Designed with straight edges, ideal for scenarios where you want to stretch a film or cover over the station for protection or customization.

Please note that I have primarily focused on the standard version, and I can't provide specific feedback on the performance of the alternative versions. They are available for users with different needs and preferences.

Folder Structure

  • Gear Folder: Contains gear components and the base plate for assembly.

    • SprayBox-Gearboard.3mf: Base plate with gear holder attachments that are mounted beneath the SprayBox.
    • SprayBox-GearManual.3mf: The "main gear" that can be manually rotated to move the rotating plate.
    • SprayBox-GearManualStick.3mf: An optional handle that can be attached to the main gear for easier rotation. If not used, it is recommended to install it upside down for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
    • SprayBox-GearRotatingDisk.3mf: The gear onto which the rotating plate is mounted.
    • SprayBox-GearSmall(3x).3mf: Three smaller gears that ensure the connection between the main gear and the gear with the rotating plate.
  • Main Folder: Includes the standard box and rotating disc assembly.

    • SprayBox-RotatingDisk.3mf: Standard rotating disc assembly.
    • SprayBox-Spraybox.3mf: Standard box assembly with the rotating disc.
  • Smaller Walls Folder: Offers a box with thinner walls and its specific rotating disc.

    • SprayBox-RotatingDisk_smaller_walls.3mf: Rotating disc for the thinner-walled box.
    • SprayBox-Spraybox_smaller_walls.3mf: Thinner-walled box with its rotating disc.
  • Straight Edges Folder: Contains the box with square edges and the standard rotating disc.

    • SprayBox-RotatingDisk.3mf: Standard rotating disc for the square-edged box.
    • SprayBox-Spraybox_straight_edges.3mf: Box with square edges and standard rotating disc.
  • Smaller Walls and Straight Edges Folder: Provides a box with thinner walls and square edges, along with its unique rotating disc.
    • SprayBox-RotatingDisk_smaller_walls.3mf: Rotating disc for the thinner-walled and square-edged box.
    • SprayBox-Spraybox_smaller_walls_and_straight_edges.3mf: Thinner-walled and square-edged box with its rotating disc.

Usage Instructions

Before you begin, please note that printing this 3D Printable Airbrush/Object Station will require multiple print runs due to the size of the components. With a print size of 220x220mm, you will need 2 separate print runs as follows (Run Duration based on the following quality: 0.3mm; Draft; Printer: Sovol SV06):

Print Run 1: This includes the Gearboard and Gears components and is expected to take approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes.

Print Run 2: This involves the Box and Rotating Disc assembly. The duration of this print run depends on the version you choose:

  • For the "Smaller Walls" version, it will take around 15 hours.
  • For the standard version with "Normal Walls," it will take approximately 19 hours and 42 minutes.
  1. Open the respective 3mf files in your preferred 3D printing software.
  2. Refer to the 'Gear Manual' files for instructions on assembling the gear components and gear stick.
  3. Use the appropriate rotating disk file for your selected box version.
  4. Adjust printing settings as needed, and ensure your 3D printer is properly calibrated.
  5. Print the components and assemble your 3D printable Airbrush/Object Station.

Please note that each folder contains the necessary files for a specific version of the station, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your requirements. Happy 3D printing!
