Inspired by Fazerboy's model, I thought this looked like a great spool holder for my Rostock Max V2. It is not as sophisticated as RMLynch's design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1060029) But easier to get spools on so I thought it would be a nice compromise.
The hardware i used consisted of stuff I had lying around.
For the bearings I used a Gear head bearing 9.5x22.2x7.14mm. (Available on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-STIHL-Trimmer-Gearhead-Ball-Bearing-FS-44-74-80-85-/350330092447?hash=item51914cfb9f:m:m3NkvbAKn0UHqUhzku2ysrw)
For the shaft I used a 3/8 inch rod. It has a nominal diameter of 9.47mm Make sure the bearings fit before committing. I found some inconsistency in different 3/8 inch rods. You can also use 3/8 pipe, etc. The rod will have a nominal length of 15cm. This depends a bit on the quality of the print and if you can get the rod to its full depth. Some trial and error may apply.
To connect the end cap I used two #4x1/2 pan head sheet metal screws. These do not hold any weight so they do not have to be too tight.
The spacers are 14.5mm long. These allow for the five bearings. If you want more bearings, you can do the math and adjust the spacer length.
In real world use this spool holder works great. It probably reduces 80 to 90% of the tension off the filament.
